Third term final schedule changed

Third term finals have been moved back to allow more classroom time after having two snow days and interruptions caused by ITED testing.
Block one and two finals will be on Thursday, March 22 instead of March 20. Block three and four finals will be on Friday, March 23 instead of March 21. Finals run from 7:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 9:25 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. both days. Lunch is available afterwards and buses run at normal times.
The change comes after losing two days of school. Also, on Feb. 22, classes were only 30 minutes long because of ITED testing. Seniors were not required to be in attendance that day.
There were also two snow days, causing disruptions to not just class, but also extracurricular activities. One evening performance of the play was cancelled due to a snow day on March 2.
This change was made for all three Davenport high schools. The fourth term will begin the following Monday, March 26, allowing a full week of class before spring break.
“This will help even out the days met for this quarter,” said Principal Nancy Jacobsen.
The school year will end on June 7 instead of June 5.
